 <note>The objectives of this research are to know the improvement of students’ speaking skill after the application of the combination of role play and comic life technique, to know the problems of using the combination of role play and comic life technique and to know the responses of using the combination of role play and comic life technique. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) developed by Kemis and Mc Taggart. This research was conducted in two cycles of actions. The subject of the research was the students of class VIII H consist of 42 persons. In this research, the researcher applied the combination of role play and comic life technique to develop students’ speaking skill. The researcher collected the data by using the observations, interviews, questionnaire, and documentation as the qualitative data. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were collected by using test. The combination of role play and comic life technique was applied on class activity. The improvement could be seen from the students’ mean score in the pretest was 46.34. It increased to 64.48 in the post-test 1 and became 77.56 in the post test 2. The problems of the combination of role play and comic life technique are on the first meeting some students still seemed lazy to follow the class, conducting the role play technique needs time, and using comic life as a media teaching learning needs laboratory room. The students’ respond of the combination of role play and comic life technique could be seen from the data questionnaire are as follows: the high media acceptability was 29 students, the medium acceptability was 9 students and the low acceptability was 3 students. The method acceptability was 27 students, the medium acceptability was 11 students, and the low acceptability was 3 students. It means that the using of the Combination of Role Play and Comic Life technique was acceptable. The students were more active in the class. They could accept the method and could operate the media easily. The students were more confident and their speaking better than before. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the combination of role play and comic life technique in teaching speaking can improve the students’ speaking skill.
