Karakter religius merupakan dasar penting dalam perkembangan spiritual dan moral anak sejak usia awal. Pembinaan karakter religius di Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPA) adalah salah satu bentuk pendidikan nonformal yang membantu menanamkan nilai-nilai keislaman, adab, serta kebiasaan beribadah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan cara pembinaan karakter religius anak yang dilakukan oleh para guru di TPA Ar-Rohman Pilangsari Potronayan, serta bagaimana metode tersebut membentuk kebiasaan positif dalam kehidupan beragama anak.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif.
Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru TPA dan sejumlah santri yang dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling. Penelitian mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara semi terstruktur, observasi non-partisipan, serta pengumpulan dokumen, sementara keabsahan data diperiksa dengan teknik triangulasi. Data kemudian dianalisis secara bertahap melalui proses reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru TPA Ar-Rohman menerapkan empat metode utama dalam membina karakter religius anak: (1) Metode pembiasaan, yaitu melatih anak untuk membaca doa harian, salam, muroja’ah, disiplin waktu, dan menjaga adab selama kegiatan belajar; (2) Metode keteladanan, dengan memberi contoh sikap yang santun, sabar, disiplin, dan konsisten menjalankan ibadah kepada anak; (3) Metode cerita dan nasihat, yaitu memberikan kisah Nabi, sahabat, atau kisah inspiratif yang relevan; serta (4) Sistem reward dan hukuman yang dididik, berupa penghargaan untuk perilaku baik dan konsekuensi ringan untuk membangun rasa tanggung jawab. Seluruh metode tersebut berperan penting dalam membentuk kebiasaan beribadah, meningkatkan pemahaman tentang nilai-nilai keagamaan, serta membangun sikap adab anak dalam lingkungan TPA maupun di rumah.

Religious character is an essential foundation for children’s spiritual and moral development from an early age. The development of religious character in Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPA) serves as a form of non-formal education that helps instill Islamic values, proper manners, and worship habits. This study aims to describe how teachers at TPA Ar-Rohman Pilangsari Potronayan foster children’s religious character and how the applied methods contribute to forming positive religious habits in their daily lives.
This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach.
The research subjects consist of TPA teachers and several students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation, while data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The data were then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
The results of the study show that teachers at TPA Ar-Rohman apply four main methods in developing children’s religious character: (1) The habituation method, which trains children to practice daily prayers (doa), greetings, memorization (muroja’ah), time discipline, and proper manners during learning activities; (2) The role-modeling method, in which teachers demonstrate polite, patient, disciplined attitudes and consistency in worship as real examples for the children; (3) The storytelling and advice method, by providing stories of the Prophet, companions, or other relevant inspirational narratives; and (4) An educational reward and punishment system, giving appreciation for good behavior and light consequences to build responsibility. These methods play an important role in shaping worship routines, enhancing understanding of religious values, and building children’s manners both within the TPA environment and at home.
