	Anak tunagrahita ringan termasuk dalam golongan anak yang mempunyai kemampuan intelektual atau kognitif dibawah rata-rata anak pada umumnya. Anak tunagrahita mempunyai karakteristik yaitu cenderung diam, tidak fokus, dan  mudah bosan. Dalam menjalani kehidupan, berinteraksi, dan berkomunikasi di lingkungan anak tentunya membutuhkan  individu lain.Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah menggambarkan dan menjelaskan terkait dengan peran orangtua dalam proses membentuk keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal anak dengan berkebutuhan khusus tunagrahita ringan di SLB B-C Binadsih Jurangjero, Karanganom, Klaten, Jawa Tengah. &#13;
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Subyek  pada penelitian  ini sebanyak 3 walimurid atau orangtua siswa yang mempunyai anak dengan kondisi tunagrahita ringan, serta kepala sekolah sebagai data tambahan. Alasan  peneliti mengambil subyek tersebut dikarenakan melihat kondisi anak dengan tunagrahita ringan yang mengalami hambatan cenderung pasif dan diam, Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah berupa observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan.&#13;
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak tunagrahita ringan di SLB B-C Binadsih cenderung diam, mengalami hambatan intelektual dan kurang mendapat perhatian karena orangtua yang sibuk bekerja, kemudian orangtua berperan penting dalam memberikan pendidikan dan mengasuh anak, orangtua sebagai pembimbing yakni melakukan aktivitas positif dirumah, orangtua juga sebagai motivator dengan mendukung anak berperilaku positif, orangtua mendampingi anak dalam belajar, memberikan nasihat yang baik, mendorong anak bersosialisasi dengan orang lain, orangtua menjadi fasilitator dengan memenuhi fasilitas akademis yakni alat belajar anak, orangtua berperan membentuk komunikasi awal anak dengan mengajarkan dan membiasakan anak dengan mengenalkan kosa kata benda, memanggil nama anggota keluarga, orangtua membentuk keterbukaan dengan menanyakan kondisi anak, mengajak mengobrol, membentuk empati dengan mengikuti takziah di lingkungan desa, membentuk sikap positif mengajak anggota keluarga saat waktu luang untuk berkomunikasi bersama lalu membentuk kesetaraan mengajak anak mengikuti kegiatan dilingkungan seperti arisan, PKK, membentuk sikap mendukung dengan merespon anak dengan memberi hadiah atau ucapan kepada anak saat bertindak positif.&#13;

Children with mild intellectual disabilities are classified as children with intellectual or cognitive abilities below the average for children in general. Children with intellectual disabilities tend to be quiet, unfocused, and easily bored. In living their lives, interacting, and communicating in their environment, children naturally need other individuals. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the role of parents in the process of shaping the interpersonal communication skills of children with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB B-C Binadsih Jurangjero, Karanganom, Klaten, Central Java.&#13;
He type of research used is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were three parents of students with mild intellectual disabilities, as well as the school principal as additional data. The researcher chose these subjects because children with mild intellectual disabilities tend to be passive and quiet. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.&#13;
The results of the study show that children with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB B-C Binadsih tend to be quiet, experience intellectual barriers, and receive less attention because their parents are busy working. Parents play an important role in educating and caring for their children. Parents act as mentors by engaging in positive activities at home. Parents also act as motivators by supporting their children's positive behavior, accompanying them in their studies, giving them good advice, encouraging them to socialize with others, and acting as facilitators by providing academic facilities, namely learning tools for children. Parents play a role in forming their children's early communication by teaching and familiarizing them with vocabulary, calling family members by name, parents create openness by asking about their children's condition, inviting them to chat, forming empathy by attending condolence gatherings in the village, forming a positive attitude by inviting family members to communicate together during their free time, then forming equality by inviting children to participate in activities in the neighborhood such as social gatherings, PKK, forming a supportive attitude by responding to children by giving gifts or compliments to children when they act positively. &#13;
