Work engagement merupakan kondisi pikiran positif dan rasa puas yang dimiliki seseorang terkait pekerjaannya. Guru sekolah luar biasa (SLB) memiliki tantangan pekerjaan kompleks yang dapat mempengaruhi motivasi dan kinerjanya dalam mengajar. Adanya work engagement dapat membantu guru SLB untuk bertahan di tempat kerja meskipun dihadapkan berbagai tantangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dinamika work engagement pada guru SLB di kota Surakarta.&#13;
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga guru sekolah luar biasa sebagai informan utama yang dipilih secara purposive sampling dan tiga rekan sejawat sebagai significant others. Keabsahan data dijaga menggunakan triangulasi data dan triangulasi metode. Analisis data menggunakan teknik Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) dan menggunakan software ATLAS.ti. &#13;
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dinamika work engagement pada guru sekolah luar biasa tampak pada semangat yang berasal dari energi positif selama bekerja, komitmen dalam memberikan pendidikan terbaik bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus, dan fokus optimal pada pendidikan ABK. Work engagement yang dimiliki guru sekolah luar biasa tersebut didorong dengan adanya dukungan sosial dan makna pekerjaan sebagai pengabdian spiritual. Hal-hal tersebut dapat mengurangi dampak dari tuntunan kerja kompleks yang turut mempengaruhi kondisi work engagement guru sekolah luar biasa. Work engagement yang dimiliki guru sekolah luar biasa membawa dampak positif pada kinerja dan kesejahteraan psikologis guru sekolah luar biasa sehingga guru termotivasi untuk terus memberikan pendidikan terbaik untuk anak berkebutuhan khusus.&#13;

Work engagement is a positive state of mind and a sense of satisfaction that a person has regarding their work. Special school teachers have complex work challenges that can affect their motivation and performance in teaching. The existence of work engagement can help special school teachers to survive in the workplace despite facing various challenges. This study aims to see the dynamics of work engagement in special school teachers in the city of Surakarta. &#13;
This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study were three special school teachers as the main informants selected by purposive sampling and three colleagues as significant others. Data validity was maintained using data triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis used the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) technique and used ATLAS.ti software. &#13;
The results of the study showed that the dynamics of work engagement in special school teachers were seen in the enthusiasm that came from positive energy while working, commitment to providing the best education for children with special needs, and optimal focus on the education of children with special needs. The work engagement of special school teachers was driven by social support and the meaning of work as spiritual devotion.  These things can reduce the impact of complex work demands that also affect the work engagement conditions of special school teachers. The work engagement of special school teachers has a positive impact on the performance and psychological well-being of special school teachers so that teachers are motivated to continue to provide the best education for children with special needs.&#13;
