Menjadi anak panti asuhan bagi seorang mahasiswa berpotensi menimbulkan &#13;
berbagai dampak negatif pada aspek kognitif, afektif, dan perilaku. Hal ini dapat &#13;
memengaruhi kualitas kehidupan mereka secara menyeluruh, termasuk dalam ranah &#13;
akademik, sosial, dan spiritual. Dalam konteks ini, lembaga pengasuhan memegang &#13;
peran penting dalam memberikan dukungan psikologis guna membantu mahasiswa &#13;
membangun kepercayaan diri, menjalin relasi sosial yang sehat, serta menjalankan &#13;
peran akademik dan sosial secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk &#13;
mengekplorasi lebih dalam gambaran inferiority feeling yang dialami oleh &#13;
mahasiswa yang tinggal di panti asuhan. &#13;
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. &#13;
Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga orang mahasiswa perempuan yang tinggal &#13;
di panti asuhan, yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria &#13;
tertentu yang relevan dengan tujuan penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data yang &#13;
digunakan meliputi wawancara semi terstruktur, observasi pasif partisipan, dan &#13;
dokumentasi. Untuk menjamin kredibilitas data, peneliti menggunakan triangulasi &#13;
data dan triangulasi teknik. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan &#13;
Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) yang mengacu pada model Smith &#13;
(2009), dengan tahapan reading and re-reading, initial noting, developing emergent &#13;
themes, searching for connection a cross emergent themes, moving the next cases, &#13;
dan looking for patterns across cases. &#13;
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa inferiority feeling pada mahasiswa yang &#13;
tinggal di panti asuhan terbentuk melalui pengalaman pribadi yang menimbulkan &#13;
rasa insecure, tidak mampu, dan kurang percaya diri. Perasaan ini muncul akibat &#13;
rendahnya self-esteem, buruknya body image, kelemahan fisik, serta konflik &#13;
keluarga, dan berkembang melalui hubungan sosial yang buruk serta lingkungan &#13;
yang kurang suportif. Dukungan sosial dari teman sebaya dan pengasuh, &#13;
penerimaan dan motivasi diri, serta kekuatan spiritual seperti rasa syukur, tawakal, &#13;
dan qana’ah menjadi faktor penting dalam membangun kembali kepercayaan diri &#13;
dan mengelola perasaan inferiority feeling secara positif. Kombinasi antara &#13;
dukungan eksternal dan kekuatan internal inilah yang berperan dalam proses &#13;
pemulihan psikologis mahasiswa di panti asuhan. Implikasi penelitian ini &#13;
menekankan pentingnya dukungan emosional, psikologis, dan spiritual dari &#13;
lembaga pengasuhan untuk membangun penerimaan diri dan ketangguhan &#13;
psikologis mahasiswa. &#13;

Being an orphanage child for a university student has the potential to cause various &#13;
negative impacts on cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects. This can affect &#13;
their overall quality of life, including in the academic, social and spiritual domains. &#13;
In this context, foster care institutions play an important role in providing &#13;
psychological support to help students build self-confidence, establish healthy &#13;
social relationships, and perform their academic and social roles optimally. This &#13;
study aims to explore more deeply the picture of inferiority feelings experienced by &#13;
students living in orphanages. &#13;
This research is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. The &#13;
informants in this study were three female students living in orphanages, who were &#13;
selected through purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria relevant &#13;
to the research objectives. The data collection techniques used include semi&#13;
structured interviews, passive participant observation, and documentation. To &#13;
ensure data credibility, researchers used data triangulation and technique &#13;
triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using the Interpretative &#13;
Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach that refers to Smith's (2009) model, &#13;
with the stages of reading and re-reading, initial noting, developing emergent &#13;
themes, searching for connections across emergent themes, moving the next cases, &#13;
and looking for patterns across cases. &#13;
The results of this study show that inferiority feelings in students living in &#13;
orphanages are formed through personal experiences that cause insecurity, &#13;
inadequacy, and lack of confidence. These feelings arise due to low self-esteem, &#13;
poor body image, physical weakness, and family conflict, and develop through poor &#13;
social relationships and a less supportive environment. Social support from peers &#13;
and caregivers, self-acceptance and motivation, and spiritual strengths such as &#13;
gratitude, tawakal, and qana'ah are important factors in rebuilding self-confidence &#13;
and managing inferiority feelings positively. It is this combination of external &#13;
support and internal strength that plays a role in the psychological recovery &#13;
process of students in orphanages. The implications of this study emphasize the &#13;
importance of emotional, psychological, and spiritual support from foster care &#13;
institutions to build students' self-acceptance and psychological resilience. &#13;
