Jurusan Bimbingan dan Konseling Islam, Fakultas Ushuluddin dan Dakwah, Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Mas Said Surakarta, 2025.&#13;

Anak disabilitas intelektual kerap mengalami hambatan dalam komunikasi verbal, seperti kesulitan berbicara, memahami pesan, dan merespons percakapan. Permasalahan ini berdampak pada kemampuan mereka dalam menjalin interaksi sosial dan menyampaikan kebutuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana implementasi metode bermain peran digunakan untuk melatih kemampuan komunikasi verbal anak disabilitas intelektual di SLBN Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat Ngawi.&#13;
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari satu guru dan empat anak tunagrahita ringan tingkat SMP yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi teknik, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan melalui proses reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.&#13;
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi metode bermain peran dilakukan melalui delapan tahap, yaitu penyusunan skenario, pemberian arahan, pemilihan peran, pemberian contoh, pelaksanaan kegiatan, bimbingan dan penguatan, diskusi pasca kegiatan, serta evaluasi. Proses pembelajaran ini mampu membantu anak menjadi lebih berani berbicara, menirukan ungkapan sederhana, serta merespon lawan bicara dengan lebih baik. Temuan ini menggambarkan bahwa metode bermain peran dapat dijadikan sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik anak disabilitas intelektual dalam konteks pelatihan komunikasi verbal. &#13;

Children with intellectual disabilities often experience obstacles in verbal communication, such as difficulty speaking, understanding messages, and responding appropriately in conversations. These issues affect their ability to engage in social interaction and express their needs. This study aims to describe how the role-playing method is implemented to train verbal communication skills in children with intellectual disabilities at SLBN Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat Ngawi.&#13;
This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of one teacher and four junior high school students with mild intellectual disabilities, selected through purposive sampling. Data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques, and data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions.&#13;
The research results show that the implementation of the role-playing method involves eight stages: scenario development, providing direction, role selection, providing examples, implementing the activity, guidance and reinforcement, post-activity discussion, and evaluation. This learning process can help children become more confident in speaking, imitating simple expressions, and responding better to their conversation partners. These findings indicate that the role-playing method can serve as a learning approach that aligns with the characteristics of children with intellectual disabilities in the context of verbal communication training. &#13;
