Boarding School).&#13;
This study examines how Al-Qur’aniyy Mangkuyudan Islamic Boarding&#13;
School uses the practice of reading Surah Ad-Dhuha as a tool to locate lost items.&#13;
This study aims to depict the ongoing practice of reading Surah Ad-Dhuha to locate&#13;
lost items. In addition, this study will analyse the meaning behind the actions of&#13;
students who practice reading Surah Ad-Dhuha as a tool for finding lost items.&#13;
This type of research is field research. The research is qualitative and&#13;
descriptive. The primary data for the study comes from interviews, observations&#13;
and documentation. We used purposive sampling to carry out the informant&#13;
selection technique. Data were analysed using Max Weber's social action theory.&#13;
The results of the study indicate that the practice of reciting Surah Ad-&#13;
Dhuha varies. Some students practise it by reading Surah Ad-Dhuha from the first&#13;
verse to the end and reading it repeatedly while looking for lost items. Others read&#13;
Surah Ad-Dhuha by repeating certain words while looking for lost items. It is&#13;
known that the motives and goals of the students in practising Surah Ad-Dhuha are:&#13;
first, students know this practice because it has been passed down from generation&#13;
to generation by the teachers of the Al-Qur’aniyy Islamic Boarding School and is&#13;
practised to find lost items. Second, students practise Surah Ad-Dhuha because of&#13;
emotional attachment in the form of boredom, disappointment and resignation when&#13;
experiencing loss and then practising Surah Ad-Dhuha, which is believed to provide&#13;
a sense of calm to help find lost items. Third, because students have experience in&#13;
practising Surah Ad-Dhuha, students feel that this practice is the most effective way&#13;
to find lost items. Fourth, it is believed that the virtue of Surah Ad-Dhuha is to find&#13;
lost items in certain verses and then practice to help find lost items. The difference&#13;
in understanding regarding the meaning and function is manifested in different&#13;
actions in the practice of practising Surah Ad-Dhuha. Although some students do&#13;
not practice reading Surah Ad-Dhuha, they still present the verses of the Qur'an in&#13;
their lives by believing in the concept of sustenance that will not be exchanged, as&#13;
stated in Surah Hud verse 6.&#13;
